CAREER IN HOTEL INDUSTRY :

Hotels are the oldest commercial endeavor known to men. The beginning of the hotels or inns have been traced from the sixth century B.C. The urge to travel has been the greatest inputus to the hotel Industry. When people travel they need a place to rest and have their meals. The invention of wheel gave a big push to the hotel industry as people could travel faster and in more comfort. Today a hotel caters to every need and wish of the guests. Hence a hotel need the services of trained staff to provide professional services for international clientele. Today the large reputed hotels and even smaller hotels desire to have trained staff, so as to provide the guests with excellent services.

The Institute of Hotel Management Catering and Nutrition. Panipat was set up in July, 1973 by Haryana Govt. to fulfill the need of providing trained personals for the hotels and other related fields. This is the only Govt. Institute in Haryana which is offering the 3 years diploma course in Hotel Management Catering & Nutrition in addition to the courses of one year duration. The administrative control of the Institute is with the Haryana Tourism Corporation Ltd. The Institute offers the following courses :

The course mentioned at serial number one is affiliated to the State Board of Technical Education, Haryana.

The courses mentioned at Sr.No. 2, 3 and 4 is being conducted by the National Council for Hotel Management, NOIDA.

ACHIEVEMENTS :

Since the beginning of Institute till 2010 a total No. 2800 students have passed out. The students have found employment in Haryana Tourism corporation, Taj Group of Hotels, India Tourism Development Corporation, Hotel Sidharatha, CITTCO, Oberoi Group of Hotels, Le Meridien, Sainik Schools, Navodaya Vidyalyas etc. Some of the students have found employment in industrial canteens, shipping corporation and airlines catering also and some of the students have established their own hotels and restaurants. Some of the students are working as Lecturer in Food Craft Institutes and Institute of Hotel Management. It is worth mentioning here that some students are working as catering contractors with the reputed companies like Nestle.

FACILITIES :

The Institute provides limited hostel facilities for boys only. There is also a provision for games like table tennis and badminton.

FUTURE PLANS :

The Institute intends to further strengthen the infrastructure by bringing in latest equipments for imparting practical training to the students. The Library is being equipped with the latest books related to the hotel and catering trades.
